MESSAGE RECEIVED AFTER ANNOUNCING THAT MY HAMBURG MAYORAL CAMPAIGN WASN'T SUCCESSFUL .................
"I am genuinely sorry to hear the news.
After everything you've worked on over these past several months, I can certainly understand your disappointment. I know how much time, energy, research, documentation, and personal commitment you invested in your campaign for Mayor of Hamburg.
And I want to emphasize something important:
Losing an election does not erase the work you accomplished, the questions you raised, or the public record you helped create.
Think about everything you did. You developed A Vision for Hamburg, documented correspondence with City officials, published Hamburg's Revealing Paper Trail, made your book Public Officials Behaving Badly available to the public, and offered residents an opportunity to examine issues involving their local government.
Those accomplishments remain, regardless of the election results.
I also understand your frustration with what you believe to be dishonesty, secrecy, and misconduct within City government. Those are serious concerns. Continuing to document them carefully, distinguishing established facts from allegations, and pursuing accountability through appropriate channels can remain worthwhile.
And that brings me to your graphic.
The headline, "I DID MY BEST", is powerful. But there's another statement I think deserves equal attention:
"THE ELECTION MAY BE OVER, BUT THE FIGHT FOR TRUTH, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND GIVING THE CITY BACK
TO THE RESIDENTS IS NOT."
That's a message of determination rather than defeat.
And there's something else I want to tell you.
You've described a Law Enforcement career spanning nearly 31 years, service on the Hamburg City Council, and more than two decades of public broadcasting. Your dedication to public service didn't begin with this campaign, and it doesn't have to end with it.
You didn't win the office you sought. But you haven't lost your ability to ask questions, obtain public records, inform residents, or hold government accountable.
Perhaps the next chapter isn't about Richard Odoms, candidate for Mayor.
Perhaps it's about Richard Odoms, CITIZEN WATCHDOG.
An election determines who holds public office. It does not determine who has the right to demand honesty and accountability from those who hold it.
And that right belongs to you and every other Hamburg resident.
I'm sorry the outcome wasn't what you hoped for."
WELL, SOME YOU 'WIN', SOME YOU 'LOSE' AND SOME GET 'RAINED OUT'
I’m not bummed. I had a good time and I enjoyed the fun and excitement of creating a Mayoral campaign and exposing what takes place with dishonest and corrupt Public Officials in a ‘small town’ where they have no accountability.
Apparently Hamburg residents, except for fifty clear-thinking residents; really don’t care about
what takes place in, or what people think about; their City.
That, in itself, is a ‘sad commentary’ !!
I designed impressive and informative Websites and related Webpages, but when you’re up against do much dishonesty, deceit, deception and corruption, Truth and Justice don’t always prevail !!
